DONATION FAQS

  • Anyone, including employees, customers, vendors and community groups may donate to the Fund. We hope that everyone donates, no matter how much. Every donation makes a difference and can be as a one-time gift or an ongoing periodic contribution.

  • Every dollar donated will help members of the Coca-Cola system who have been impacted by a natural disaster. This is a wonderful way to live our values and make a difference in each other’s lives.

  • Our goal is to enable Coca-Cola system employees to personally help as many team members as possible, and therefore 100% of employee donations support fellow Coca-Cola employees. The company is covering the cost of all fund operating expenses to ensure that this is the case.

  • Yes, all donations are tax-deductible for US donors to the full extent permissible by law.

  • Unfortunately, no, regulations do not allow for donations to be earmarked for specific individuals. All donations are added to the fund so as to support as many CCSWB employees as possible.

  • Check – Cancelled checks are acceptable forms of documentation for gifts under $250. Each donor of $250 or more will receive an acknowledgement from Emergency Assistance Foundation.

    Credit / Debit cards – Credit / Debit card statements are acceptable forms of documentation for gifts under $250. All donors will receive a donation acknowledgement automatically from Emergency Assistance Foundation.

  • Not at all. Donating to the Fund is completely voluntary. Eligibility for assistance is based upon need and qualifying circumstances.

  • Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Hero Disaster Relief Fund was created to help employees who are impacted and facing financial hardship immediately after a natural disaster. The Fund relies primarily on contributions from Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, the Coca-Cola system and individual donations from employees to fund this program. Every contribution helps when combined with the donations from others which can provide a tax-free grant (USA) to help a fellow employee in need when they are facing the unexpected situation or aftermath of a natural disaster.

  • The Fund covers natural disaster which affect a substantial number of employees as designated by the Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages.

  • Applicants must be:

    ✦ employed by the CCSWB on the date of the application; and

    ✦ regularly scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week; or,

    ✦ on approved medical leave or approved leave of absence for less than one year.

  • The CCSWB Hero Disaster Relief Fund was established to help employees, facing unavoidable financial hardship resulting from natural disasters such as flood, wild-fire, tornado, earthquake, tsunami, volcanic eruption, blizzard, drought, cyclone, hurricane, or typhoon.

  • If an employee experiences a qualifying event, Hero Disaster Relief Fund may provide assistance for expenses and the “X” indicates which expenses are included.

    Hero Disaster Relief Fund

    Flood, wild-fire, tornado, earthquake, tsunami, volcanic eruption, blizzard, drought, cyclone, hurricane, or typhoon.

    X Food — immediate needs only (usually applicable up to2 weeks after the Event)

    X Clothing— immediate needs only (usually applicable up to2 weeks after the Event)

    X Reasonable repairs to damaged property

    X Repairs other than routine maintenance, or repairs that could not have been avoided

    X Cost of public or commercial transportation to and from work

  • Examples of existing non-qualifying expenses include:

    ✦ Legal fees

    ✦ Lost compensation due to missed time from work

    ✦ Electronics and non-essential appliances/furnishings

    ✦ Non-essential utilities (internet service, cable television, etc.)

    ✦ Personal security items

    ✦ Prepaid expenses

    ✦ Expenses incurred before the employee became eligible for assistance

    ✦ Payment for maternity/paternity leave unless medical complications to the mother or child occur

    ✦ Routine car maintenance

    ✦ Credit card debt

    ✦ Pay day loans

    ✦ Medical expenses not related to a Qualified Event including: Long-term medical expenses, expenses for elective medical procedures, routine or maintenance medical procedures

    ✦ Non-medical insurance co-pays, premiums or deductibles, or items covered by or to be reimbursed by insurance

    ✦ School tuition

    ✦ Expenses associated with divorce or child custody matters.

    ✦ Funeral, travel and burial expenses upon the death of the employee’s relative other than an immediate family member or eligible dependent.

  • The maximum amount available for each incident is $2,500 and the minimum amount that can be requested is $500.

  • The best thing to do then is to get someone that you trust to help you through the process. Maybe your supervisor could help, or someone from the human resources department, or someone else that you trust. The important thing to remember is that you have a better chance of getting your application approved, if you complete the application accurately, and supply all of the backup documentation necessary.

  • Normally, within 10 business days or less. However, processing time will be extended in cases where documentation or signatures are missing, or if other information is needed. Please take care to double check your application before sending it for review. You will be notified if there is missing information from your application.

  • The CCSWB Hero Disaster Relief Foundation will notify you by email when your application is reviewed by HR approved or rejected.

  • No. Grants received in the U.S. are not considered part of your taxable income. Outside of the U.S. they may or may not be taxable.

  • No. Amounts granted under the Fund are not loans and do not have to be repaid.

  • In each case, The CCSWB Hero Disaster Relief requires a completed application form along with required documentation needed regarding the qualifying incident. The application must establish a financial need and document the expenses for which the grant is being requested. Payments cannot be made without copies of current bills or invoices.

  • Yes. Your personal information is only used to determine your eligibility for a grant and to determine the grant amount to be made. Applications to the Fund are reviewed by Hero Disaster Relief Assistance Foundation, and will be treated in a confidential manner; however non-identifying statistical information will be reported to CCSWB Executive Leadership on a periodic basis to help it improve the fund.

  • No. The CCSWB Hero Disaster Relief Fund is available for those employees who do not have the means themselves or other resources available to pay their living expenses.

  • No. If you think a co-worker would benefit from the CCSWB Hero Disaster Relief Fund, please pass along information about the Fund so that he or she can follow up.
